The defamation case against the five accused persons namely the Archdiocese of Mumbai,Cardinal Oswald Gracias,The Examiner,Fr.Dominic Savio Fernandes and Fr.Anthony Charanghat came up for hearing on 6th January 2011 before the Metropolitan Magistrate 18th Court,Girgaum.
The Advocate for the accused made an application for exemption in which he wrote” The accused no.2 is cardinal Arch Bishop. He is 67 years old.He is patient of cancer. He has been operated twice. He has been advised rest by the doctors”( Reproduced exactly the way the advocate has written it)
The Court exempted him for the day from personal appearance.
As per the Examiner dated January 1st 2011 which gives the Cardinal’s official engagements the Cardinal had a CCBI General Body Meeting in Chennai from January 5th to 12th ,2011.
The above photograph is taken of the Cardinal in Chennai on 6th January 2011 and is also on UCANnews.
You be the judge and decide to what extent people may go,considering the fact that I did not oppose the exemption of the Cardinal.
Man may lie documents dont.
A.M.Sodder
one lie leads to another, what would be the next lie?
Liar liar! Pants on fire! Have some shame. If you don’t want to attend court in the defamation case, then say so openly. Why be a hypocrite and a coward?
Hi,
This only proves how low the archbishops people and his lawyers can go.
This must be highlighted to the honourable judge only as information and still maniatn that you Mr Sodder have a big heart to accept it as his lawyer asked for exemption since he mentioned the cardinal was suffering from a deaded disease and needed rest.
I hope all people who read this will now realise how low, cheap and wormlike our clergy can get. They have no fear in God and I am sure God will return it back to them 100 times over.
Per website of archdiocese of Bombay Cardinal Oswald Cardinal Gracias is still enjoying a tour till 23 January at Bangalore.
Sun-Sun Jan 16-23 Meeting of Bishops and Theologians with the Cardinal Prefect and Officials of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith, St John’s Medical College, Bangalore.
Finally a notice has been issued to the cardinal by the court for giving wrong information to the court, could the cardinal explain as to who will foot the legal bills to represent all the five accused in the high court, the magistrates court and now for the appeal in the sessions court(is it the money that I put in the box on sunday) then as an individual I dont think the cardinal should spend my money to engage lawyers to protect him and his clergy members for defaming others.THE CLERGY MEMBERS ARE SO ARROGANT THAT THEY DO NOT WISH TO APOLOGISE FOR DEFAMING OTHERS BUT PREFER TO GO TO COURT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES.I hope the cardinal will make a public statement as to who is paying for these huge legal bills because I know if I was in the same situation I would not have the funds to appeal and go to the High court and the sessions court, but would be forced to face the music
Lies, Lies, Lies….The cardinals itinerary in the examiner should hence forth include dates for court hearings. This should now be insisted by the Editor of the Examiner as he too is a party to the same case.
Do you mean to say the Archbishop stooped so so very low. Why cant the court take serious view of this and haul him up for contempt of court. be him a religious leader or otherwise, this is no way for him to to behave. He needs to respect the court of law. Having studied church law (canon law) he is fully aware of his actions. I appeal to the advocates to take this matter up. Shame Shame.
If the Cardinal has done this, there isnothing more left in our religion to make us proud Catholics which our grandparents and parents taught us. All sermons in our churches must be done away with and sunday school closed as there is no more morals left in the Catholic church, as the senior most leader of the church has committed the act of perjury to protect his skin.
Soon it will be time to close down our Catholic churches also.
Shame Shame and More Shame be upon the Cardinal.
