Dont follow leaders who have no legal acumen and foresight- Adv. Ramson Dias

I have failed to understand as to why the Catholic community led by Leaders from the BCS, SOUL, Watchdog foundation, BEIA and Police Reforms watch met the assistant Commissioner himself, when he was the person accused of the illegal demolition of the cross.

During the meeting the officer himself made a statement that since he himself had carried it out, he will not comment on it and that he had followed rules.

Admittedly a complaint online was filed against the officer by the above mentioned bodies representing the Catholics.

Looks like they have failed in application of mind that when you are accusing a person, that too a government servant discharging his duty and admittedly accused of wrong, a meeting was held with him.

What a sham and Mockery we have made of our self.

Strange that they have advocates on board and no one could guide that the matter had to be addressed to the superior of the officer concerned or the municipal commissioner.

For a fact the peace March  ought to have been taken to Azad Maidan and the municipal commissioner ought to have been appraised directly. The BMC has a legal department which looks into issues.

We have acted in haste due to acts of persons wanting to get some fame at the cost of the community.

The cross which was desecrated at Vakola too, the police state was a motive of  theft. Haven’t we heard that before too when another cross was desecrated.

We have to pull up our socks and put up our thinking caps and not be taken for granted by some of our people who lead us without legal acumen and foresight.

Regards,

RAMSON DIAS
Advocate.

About The Voice Of Bombay's Catholic Laity

Bombay Laity Ezekiel’s Chapter 3 Task as Watchman 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for[b] their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 19 But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.

The contents of the article are vague. There are no dates. A distant reader is unable to make out a consistent story out of it. Which cross? Which Commissioner? When did it happen? Nothing gets clear. The learned Adv Dias could have offered his assistance to the community leaders concerned well in advance. He can do it even now.
