About The Voice Of Bombay's Catholic Laity

Bombay Laity Ezekiel’s Chapter 3 Task as Watchman 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for[b] their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 19 But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.

  1. Please come in large numbers tomorrow at 1000 AM at the Archbishop’s house Colaba, Mumbai, just along side sarkhari Bhavan road.

  2. John Menezes says:

Who is a practicing Roman Catholic? When Paul VI signed the Dogmatic Constitution of the Church (21/11/1964), through chapter one, section 8, paragraph 2, he instituted a New Church and a New Religion for which the entire Catholic Church has been refigured to turn its adherents from Roman Catholics into Roman Protestants, to embrace a new “ecumenism of reconciled diversity” and to breach the Encyclical “Mortalium Animos” (6/1/1928) of Pope Pius XI which had warned that such devices would amount to the abandonment of the religion given by God.
The Holy Name Cathedral was built with public money to offer, inter alia, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass but, after Vatican II, what is performed thereat is the New Order of Mass which is a Reformist Communion Service and a pallid parody of the True Mass, a breach of Divine Law in that it has replaced the Christ-given Catholic Mass coming from Apostolic times with a man-made ritual, a Work of Human Hands. Even the ordination rites have not been spared as every prayer in the traditional rite which stated specifically the essential role of a priest as a man ordained to offer propitiatory sacrifice for the living and the dead has been removed. In most cases these were the precise prayers removed by the Protestant Reformers or, if not precisely the same, there are clear parallels.
For a short and convincing critique of Paul VI’s New Order of Mass, Google “The Ottaviani Intervention” which was written by a Group of Roman Theologians headed by late Rev. Dr. Michel Louis Guerard des Lauriers OP, Professor at the Lateran University and confessor of Pope Pius XII and which shows that it is not a Catholic Mass at all.
If Catholic properties are only for practicing Catholics so also the sole Trustees must be abiding Catholics who transmit the True Faith and not another religion in disguise. Experience, since Vatican II, has shown otherwise. When the Sole Trustee of Mumbai ramps up the aisle to his Episcopal Chair escorted by an indispensable gang of concelebrants, he breaches Part II of “Mediator Dei” (20/11/1047) of Pope Pius XII which repudiates concelebration as it denies the sacrificial intent of a Catholic Mass. Therefore the Sole Trustee must himself be a practicing Roman Catholic in the first place and renounce the New Religion of Paul VI.

The efforts put up by the lay Catholic organisations such as Association of Concerned Catholics and CROSS in highlighting the illegal sale of Church land as also highlighting the plight of teachers in schools run by the Archdiocesan Board of Education is indeed commendable. I wish the Catholics of Bombay do not behave like mere cattle to the activities in their respective parishes instead should ask questions about the running of each parish from their respective parish council members. Lay Catholic organisations like Bombay Catholic Sabha could have done more but appear to be spineless and seem to simply toe the official ;line of the Catholic hierarchy without least bit thought whether the same is correct or otherwise.
As regards the fate of teachers in schools run by the Archdiocesan Board of Education, it is indeed shocking that the Catholic church of Bombay which talks endlessly about social justice has failed to ameliorate the plight of teachers in its own schools. Teachers are not paid the pay scales as per recommendations of the pay commissions and are not even paid their DA and other benefits. Father George Athaide, Secretary, Archdiocesan Board of Education, uses the lame excuse that school fees are not increased so the teachers are not paid their dues. Why should the poor teachers suffer for this reason. Does the Board want the teachers to subsidize the students fees by paying them less . In most cases the teachers in ABE run schools are mostly Catholics and perhaps the only visible symbol of Roman Catholicism in the schools, some of which do not have even a single Catholic student in a class. Surely the ABE has a duty towards these teachers and should have ensured that their rightful dues are paid even if that means increasing the school fees. If the ABE cannot stand by its own teachers then can it expect the teachers to be loyal to ABE?

  4. How SAD !!!! do we really want to see ” POOR ” priests and nuns ???? without fancy cars — fat bank balances — fancy clothes — AND lots of money in the pocket to have a good time on wine and women ?????

  5. Its the end of Good times.Yes Fergus what you say is so very true.I have seen some who join the clergy representing the seven years of famine .Come 12 to 18 months they represent the seven years of full and plenty. So much to eat and drink, some develop bellies like beer barrels. Good profession to be in, lots to eat drink, no responsibility no accountability, plenty of authority.
