Catholic-Christian Community delegation meets Hon’ble Cultural Affairs Minister Shri Vinod Tawde
A delegation of Catholic-Christian Community Members met with Shri Vinod Tawde, Hon’ble Minister for Cultural Affairs at his office last evening, Tuesday, 10th February. The delegation included His Lordship Bishop Agnelo Gracias, representatives of Community Groups – Judith Monteiro, Shirley Fernandes, Cyril Dara, John Fernandes & Savio Miranda (rep AOCC, CROSS, CRUPA, MCYF, CPF & laity).
The purpose of the meeting was to appraise the Hon’ble Minister of the wrong representation of the Catholic-Christian Community by Bollywood & the need to have a Mumbai Archdiocesan appointed representative on the Censor Board.
His Lordship Bishop Agnelo explained to the Hon’ble Minister that the Community is hurt & upset by the repeated wrong, distasteful & hurtful depictions of the Community & its faith by Bollywood & requested that rather than Complain everytime, a member appointed by the Mumbai Archdiocese be included on the Censor Board.
Shri Vinod Tawde requested H.L. Bishop Agnelo to send him a detailed description of the problem & promised to not only look into the matter but also to revert with a positive solution within a few days of receipt of Bishop’s correspondence.
Community group members Cyril, Savio & John also handedover a copy of the complaints made at Tardeo Police station with regards to AIB Bakchod & informed the Hon’ble Minister of the difficulties faced in registering a F.I.R on the same to date. The Hon’ble Minister has forwarded the same (complaint copies) to the office of the Hon’ble Home Minister for further action.
Note on AIB Bakchod Police complaints:
Following news of AIB Bakchod members meeting with His Lordship Bishop Agnelo Gracias, the same evening members of the Catholic – Christian Community Groups AOCC, MCYF, CROSS, CRUPA, CPF too met with H. L. Bishop Agnelo.
