Pope Francis’ accommodations for World Youth Day revealed

The Pontifical Council for Social Communications has posted a series of photos of the room where Pope Francis will stay during his visit to Brazil for World Youth Day, which will take place July 23-28.
The accommodations are located at the Sumare House in Rio de Janeiro, where Blessed John Paul II also stayed in October, 1997. The late pontiff had traveled to Brazil for the Second World Meeting of Families.
The room where Pope Francis will stay has a simple bed, a night stand with a telephone, and a small desk. A crucifix hangs on the wall over the bed.
The room reflects the simplicity and humility that has characterized his pontificate and his prior ministry as archbishop of Buenos Aires.
While archbishop, Cardinal Bergoglio lived in a small apartment in Buenos Aires rather than the archbishop’s residence. He rode the bus and the metro and cooked his own food.
Even as Bishop of Rome, he has elected not to live in the papal apartments, but rather in the Casa Sancta Marta, the Vatican’s guesthouse.

About The Voice Of Bombay's Catholic Laity

Bombay Laity Ezekiel’s Chapter 3 Task as Watchman 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for[b] their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 19 But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.

  1. All I can say is when will we Catholics see the day our princes of the Church stop living and behaving like maharajahs and become SHEPHERDS. VIVA IL PAPA

    • The day and time is upto us the laity. We must stand up against all they do. Should we sit at the comforts of our homes and relax in the easychair, these fellows will sell off all we have. I also note Jack Daniel’s feedback that Ivan Dias has a 12 room apartment. I hope Pope Francis will look into this.

  2. I hope the bishops and cardinals who enjoy the best in life at the cost of the laity will take this as a example. No flashy cars, air conditioned bedrooms, air travel by first and business class, best food and wine and heavy bank accounts in their names and the names of their family members. Wealth earned must be distributed to the poor and needy, those who dont have a meal a day and those who dont have a shelter over their heard.

  3. Jack Daniels says:

Card. Ivan Dias stays in a 12 room apartment in Rome, a classic example of poverty!

  4. The pope is considered by the princes of the Church as the Emperor of the Vatican. And therefore the princes believe that they are entitled to behave and be treated like royalty. So why is this frail old man with one lung preaching all this humility nonsense. After all this JESUS thing/phenomenon happened two thousand years ago and the princes do not feel it is relevant in today’s age of modernism. SHEPHERDS NOT WOLVES, what nonsense is this old man preaching. Royalty has the right to PREY on their subjects, and therefore old man Pope Francis seems to be going mad; and must be stopped—- so feel the PRINCES !!!!!
