“As a sign of Protest, I will not be casting my vote in the PPC Elections on Sun 30th Jan, 2011”.

People boycott Lok Sabha,Vidhan Sabha and Municipal Corporation elections as they are disgusted with the system and do so as a sign of protest.
Unfortunately, people have now started boycotting parish council elections.
In a similar case parish council elections of  St.Michaels Church Mahim were held  in the latter half  of 2010  by Fr.Salvadore Rodrigues who was assisted by Election Officer Mr.Conrad Saldanha. It was shocking that the elections were held during the mass and to top it all there was only one candidate who had submitted her election form and the normal procedure would have been to declare her elected but as mud had to be thrown in the eyes of the laity an election was held where only one candidates name was known and people were told during mass that they may vote for any person who they want. What a mockery of the mass .  Such type of tendencies should be nipped in the bud otherwise the mass  may also be used for other things in the future .
Below is the text of the letter sent to the Parish Priest by Judith Monteiro registering her protest and not voting as she believes justice has not been done to her
30th January, 2011
Dear Rev Fr Aniceto Pereira / PCEC
This is to put on record that “As a sign of Protest, I will not be casting my vote in the PPC Elections on Sun 30th Jan, 2011”.

In the interest of Justice & Fairplay as 2 Appeals relevant to the elections are pending Orders on the Charity Commissioner’s table, and in view of the Resignation of current PPC Member Mildred Murzello (also on BOM – whose reasons for resignation are not made public) request were made well in advance by concerned parties to all relevant authorities of the Church & Charity Commissioner’s office to STAY / DEFER the Elections until the said matters are decided, but were ignored.

Despite the matter being taken up & Advice from the Hon’ble Shri R R Patil who has forwarded the matter to the law & Judiciary Ministry, Justice has not been given, a sign of disrespect to the law & its ministers, hence I reiterate that based on the above – “As a sign of Protest, based on the above,  in the interest of Justice & fairplay, I will not be casting my vote in the PPC Elections on Sun 30th Jan, 2011.

Yours in Justice & fairplay

Yours in Christ.

Regards,

Judith Monteiro

Bombay Laity Ezekiel’s Chapter 3 Task as Watchman 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for[b] their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 19 But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.
